Generative AI models perform well for high-resource languages but often produce inaccurate, unreliable, or unsafe outputs for low-resource languages. This hackathon focuses on three interconnected themes:
- Security — Identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities in AI systems, including attacks that exploit weaknesses in multilingual models.
- Generative AI — Improving the accuracy and reliability of large language models, particularly where they currently fall short.
- Low-Resource Languages — Addressing GenAI inaccuracies when generating or processing content in languages with limited training data.
Teams will work at the intersection of these themes to develop solutions that make GenAI more inclusive, accurate, and secure for underserved language communities. The specific challenge will be announced closer to the event.
University full-time students, including undergraduates, postgraduates and PhD candidates are welcome to participate. Each group comprises 4 members from the same university — this can be any combination of student levels. Registration details to be confirmed.
Note that:
- This hackathon is a face-to-face event, held at Melbourne Australia, Saigon South and Hanoi Vietnam in October 2026.
- The sponsors will provide catering during the 2-day event.
- You need to organise travel and accommodation by yourselves to one of the three venues.
The hackathon will be hosted on Kaggle by SkywardAI Labs: kaggle.com/organizations/skywardai.
Participants can check the discussion forum and read relevant articles to familiarise yourself with the open source platform and code implementations.
